JOB OVERVIEW
While working at Royal Publishing, my main job involved using InDesign to lay out and put together various souvenir sports programs. These included programs that detailed various different topics such as high school seasonal athletics, tournaments, and even racing. Before placing the info, we would often process rosters or team photos ourselves, using Excel and Photoshop respectively. During downtime or gaps in the various sport seasons, I was given different tasks such as creating new program cover artwork or even designing some promotional posters to put around the office. For these more creative projects, I mainly used Illustrator to create the artwork.
COVERS
Many of the covers used on the programs are from a pre-made archive that existed before I started, but on occasion we are given the opportunity to create an original cover to use on some programs. These are a couple of the covers that I designed for use in various different programs (i.e. banquets, playoffs, racing).
LAYOUT SPREADS
My main day-to-day task involved laying out spreads for different sports souvenir programs using InDesign. Any text and image placed within these programs were processed by me, and then if needed, adjusted after. Whether that was adjusting size of text to ensure uniformity or using Photoshop to allow better visibility of the athletes, various micro-adjustments were made often. While adhering to font size and image requirements set-up prior, I focused on ensuring better readability and visibility for both the names along with the photos included.
MISC. PROJECTS
From time to time, the general manager tasked me with designing various posters, logos, etc. for the company. Most of these - while varying in theme - I designed keeping the company brand in mind, even if that mainly just meant the logo and colors. Many of these projects ended up being used for the sales floor and were displayed around on the walls.
